Dan Hurley has turned down the Los Angeles Lakers, and details of the contract offer he declined have been revealed.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers offered Hurley a 6-year, $70 million deal. That averages out to $11.67 million per season and would have made Hurley one of the six highest-paid coaches in the NBA.

Hurley turning down that money could signal that he never wanted to leave UConn for the Lakers. Rather, he may have used the Lakers flirtation to extract a deserving pay raise out of UConn.

Hurley is the 7th-highest paid coach in college basketball despite leading the Huskies to consecutive national championships.

He seems to be deserving of more money from Connecticut.
