New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara abruptly departed the team’s minicamp on Thursday over his contract.

Kamara was notably absent from Thursday’s activities, though he had been with the team for the previous two days of workouts. Kamara’s agent Brad Cicala told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that Kamara’s exit was contract-related.

It is unclear what, specifically, Kamara is unhappy about. He is due to make $18 million this season, but he has only $1 million in guaranteed money remaining. The Saints can also save $18 million against the cap if they move on from Kamara after the season, so he may be looking for more long-term security.

Kamara turns 29 in July, though he remained productive last season. In 13 games, he tallied 1,160 yards from scrimmage and six total touchdowns.
